Forget what you thought you knew about the Mathew Street Festival as we present to you the Mathew Street Fringe. Trusty, reliable Mathew Street Festival is the music of the daytime, taking pictures outside The Cavern to a soundtrack of tribute acts and Beatles covers, while the Fringe is everything that happens at night. We have Liverpool’s hottest bands playing in the city’s hippest venues. We give you the bands that people are whispering about, breaking boundaries and playing the kind of music that NME has to employ a think tank to come up with a genre title for.

Liverpool’s scene is quietly making waves again with some of the most exciting, forward thinking new bands anywhere in the UK. The scene thrives because of the close knit spacing of venues in town that promote music 7 days a week, 52 weeks of any year - capital of culture or not. No wonder the scene is vibrant and fast-paced, because when you can hop from Bumper to Barfly, cross the road to Zanzibar or stroll to Korova, there’s no excuse.

The Fringe runs from Saturday to Monday in venues across town, all with something to move you; be it the Scouse hip-hop of Riuven, the synth pop of Hackney Carriages or the angular guitars of Hot Club de Paris before their UK spanning tour to support their huge new album.
